Smart Hire
Smart Hire is a new innovation in PeopleSoft HRMS. Also known as Template Based Hire, both these names now sell the concept short. In PeopleSoft 9.2, any Job transaction can be created as a templates transaction. This can be useful to increase the degree of Manager Self Service and Office Self Service.
A template contains the fields that are available to be edited for that transaction, along with the defaults and validation. Defaulted fields can be hidden so when using a particular template a configured value is always placed in that field.
Using row based security, different templates can be made available to particular sets of users, meaning that different sets of tailored transactions can be made available to different parts and levels in the organisation.
Custom fields can be added with some additional coding and changing of the Component Interface(s) used by Smart Hire, and custom edit s and prompts can be added.
Structure of a Smart Hire Template
The setup pages for the Smart Hire Templates are on the menu Setup HRMS> Product Related > Workforce Admin > Template Based Hire.
The records and fields available for use on a template are listed in the Template Record / Field area. This information is stored on records PS_HR_TBH_RECDEFN and PS_HR_TBH_RECDTL.
Record Fields can then be placed in Sections and this is where the nitty gritty of the set up is done. There are a few specialised section types for Names, Addresses and Federal - these are affected by special field formatting requirements and so have been made special cases. There are standard delivered sections for these types, so you are unlikely to need to set one of these up from scratch.
Sections are held on the records PS_HR_TBH_SECDEFN and PS_HR_TBH_SECDTL.
